Show me a diverse group of people who seemingly have nothing in common, I will see their differences as the common ground on which great success can be achieved. We can even have some fun in the process!
Smita sees value in diversity. Born and raised in the UK and with an Indian heritage she is proud to walk a bridge connecting both the cultures of East and West. She understands the importance of an approach to work and life that is inclusive, connective, curious and open to learning new approaches. With an MA in International Relations and Diplomacy and having lived in the US and Mexico her passion for people and what makes them tick became personally and professionally developed early on. Smita nurtured this passion as an international human rights professional working for several years at the world’s leading human rights organisation.
Smita specialises in the design and implementation of innovative projects that focus on partnership building and stakeholder management. Smita is skilled at working with organisations and individuals across the globe experiencing challenging situations and enabling them to deliver results. As a human rights professional this has meant working in war torn areas such as Northern Uganda with survivors of the conflict and with ex-combatants of Liberia’s fourteen year civil war.
Smita is skilled at facilitating and leading international workshops, an example of which was her work in the Baltics where as the lead facilitator she delivered workshops on strategy development and client engagement.
She has worked with human rights organisations from diverse backgrounds and successfully built partnerships between clients in Indonesia and Argentina. She is open and pragmatic and skilled at drawing out common strategies whilst enabling organisations to learn from different approaches. Smita’s unique strength is her ability to bring teams together so they can design a visionary and ambitious strategy and achieve tangible results.
Whether working with the Executive Board of a global organisation, a Senior Leadership Team or other clients Smita is straightforward, thoughtful and diplomatic. She is passionate and energetic, someone who motivates others to find their own solutions and be pro-active. How we work on projects, in her view, is equally as important as what we work on and she focuses on an approach that puts the individual at the forefront.
I fundamentally believe that everybody has significant skills which they can contribute to their work. I appreciate that people are a unique and abundant source of experience, innovation, and enthusiasm. What would the future look like when we tap into this source everyday? I know organisations do amazing things when the people in them are heard, empowered and when our differences serve to connect us..
